Hello All ! I am newbie and had a question about modulation limiters. I recently purchased a Galaxy DX-959 which had been "peak-n-tuned". They stated that this included either removal or "opening up" of the modulation limiter. Is this a typical modification ? As a footnote, the radio seems to working fine on both transmit & receive. Thanks for any information. |

Superdave, WELCOME TO THE COPPER FORUM! Yes it is common to Peak & Tune a radio and adjust the Modulation Limiter for better modulation. But! Sad to say a lot of people Clip / Remove the Modulation Limiter for no reason other than they do not have the equipment or knowledge to properly adjust it. Clipping or Removing a Modulation Limiter is the Mother of 99% of the Overmodulation and Distortion on the Airwaves.
