I bought a TramD201 about 6 yrs. ago and also a Cobra2000gtl for a great price $400.00 for both. I knew the orignal owner he passed away and a friend of his got the equipment Radios ,amps and exct. Radios were in great shape before the want to be tech got to it ,but didn't know he had done anything to it, Now the Cobra's recive was wacked but took it to a tech and got the transmit and recive going so so, and said if I wanted it better I might need to send it to factory. It works ok but I don't talk on it much. Now the Tram is a little; well, may I say, don't know what the *#*#*#* did to the Tram but it has no recive or tran., and can not find Tech in area to work on tube types I have checked tubes, I feel that the NUT TECH. want to be used a golden screw driver and it got lost. I would like to have these radios put back together would it be worth it? Would be nice to put them all together with my Mark111 and my RCI's need help what could be wrong with Tram and what could I do myself to check it out. Thanks Wayne CEF158 |

Wayne, The Tram D201 could be VERY COSTLY to repair as a lot of things may need to be Updated or Repaired. The last one I rebuilt run around $600.00 and the Guy paid around $400.00 for it. It also included a 400 mile round trip to my friend who had a Factory Tram Board tester to test the radio. Most of the cans have probably dried out and then you have a Resistor Swap that needs to be done if it has not been done already and several other Parts and Boards need to be Replaced or Updated. I only know of 2 people that still have the Factory Tram Service Board Testers. This needs to be used to check every component and the actual boards and one guy is in MI and the other in CA. Worth it? that is up to you but like I said it is Not going to be cheep. The Cobra 2000 is another story, find a good Tech with Good Equipment and it would be worth getting fixed right. Hope this helps, Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN
