what is meant by NPO when refering to a capacitor? in the mod list, for the 139xlr, there are two cap. changes listed. they are to be replaced by NPO caps. just wondering what this means so i can find them. could a silver mica cap. of the same value be used instead? thanks in advance for any help. matt |

Kid vicious, npo referrs to a cer disc capacitor that does not change in value or within a tolerance with temperture or age.an npo ceramic will be more stable over its lifespan than a silver mica. |

thank you 291, and congratulations on your new title! when i go to the parts store to find these caps.; how would they be labled? the reason i ask is because i went to Fry's Electronics (the wal-mart of electronics chains), and couldnt find any caps. with NPO on the label. are they hard to find? thanks for your help! matt from Tech291 most will have npo stamped on the cap itself and sprague puts a dab of green paint on top of their npo caps.hope this helps |
