Ok, I have a Courier Centurion (don't laugh it was free) that transmits nothing but a squeel on side band, upper and lower, every channel. Still receives fine on side band and AM and transmits fine on AM. What could it be? Is it worth "saving" or should I explain to my better half that I need a new radio. (Christmas is come'n ya know) Think'n a new Galaxy is in order. HEE HEE. Anyway, I hate to scrap a freebee, any sugestions. It worked fine for a while after I first got it. I'm no techie when it comes to these gadgets.

Ya know.. the more I think about this... I had to replace the internal speaker on this radio because SOMEHOW the magnet had come off it, (go figure), there is about 4 or 5 capacitors that come off the mic input jack and go to ground and all were grounded to one of the speaker screws. Seems to me the problem started after I replaced the speaker. Could this be where my problem lay's? Since the radio only squeels during transmit on SSB, and by squeel I mean you cant hear it unless you monitor on another radio, but is also showing on the meter. The meter will peg out while the mic is keyed. If you mess with the mic plug it will variate up and down. Burnt cap? Bad ground? hummmm.. any thoughts anyone? I would like to get this freebee fixed... but then again.. a new radio would be nice to...
Appreciate any thoughts or comments in advance
