Tech 833, When you mount lets say a Maco M104 on the Flatside./ How high above the tower should it be? And how would one go about mounting a Maco V5/8 above flatside beam??? How far should Maco 5/8 be from beam??? Can I shorten radials on Maco 5/8? And if so, how much should they be shorten by??? Thank you in Advance! JIM/CENTRAL PA/ CEF 375 |

Hi Jim. My online time is limited, sorry. Your 'flat side' beam won't care how high it is above the tower, it can even be side mounted in the middle of or anywhere on the tower with no problem. What it WILL care about is guy wires and other stuff in the same perpendicular field as itself. Keep it at least 1/4 wave away from that kind of stuff. You can mount a ground plane antenna above the beam with no seperation at all if you remove the ground planes. You will not need them as the 'flat side' beam will act like ground planes for it. If you leave the ground planes on, get it at least 1/4 wave above the beam. |
