I have a Antron 99 will the I-Max do a better job? Also what does 5/8 wave mean? My base is an old royce 642 with a D-104 and the antenna is 23' from the ground to the bottom of the antenna. thanks 619 |

Here'a a link to a great review done by one of our members. http://www.copperelectronics.com/cgi-bin/discus4/discus.cgi I had an A-99 that originally did a pretty good juob for me, but after time something happened and I had a few problems. I bought the I-Max 2000 largely based on the review linked above. But people on the board really seem to love it. I enjoy the band width it easily covers the 11 meter band with an SWR that is pretty remarkable. I think you'll agree the I-Max is worth the few extra dollars after you read the review. |

619 In a nutshell, 5/8 wave antennas have a lower angle of radiation as compared to 1/4 and 1/2 wave antennas therefore keeping the signal closer to the ground. In comparison, if all 3 antennas were mounted at the same hight, the 5/8 wave always comes out on top. In otherwords, a 5/8 wave base antenna will outdistance (signal-wise) the other two. Click on (Subscriber Preview) and once on that page, click on (Product Review). Anything you ever wanted to know about the A-99 and I-Max 2000 is there. Jeff Tech548 |

619 Thanks I will do that, but does yours have extra channels? I was told that they couldn't be converted. But it was a great radio and it brings back great memories Thanks Bob |
