I think I posted this same question on the in the wrong topic earlyer. I am putting my tower up very soon and wanted to know if it would be a big differance in getting out if I only put it up 37ft instead of 47ft? It was not guyed at the house I got it at and had a big TV antenna on it, I think my maco v 5/8 is not any heavier, so If it was not guyed with TV antenna would it be ok with maco v? The tower will be bracketed at about 14ft on garage roof peak. any sugestions will be great. Thanks,Roger |

Airplane1, 37' will work fine as you will have a Mast pipe coming out to mount the antenna on anyway and it will not make a major difference. You want to try and get the BOTTOM (Load Part) of the IMAX close to 36' or a little above wont hurt. And at least try and attach it to the house at roof level or anywhere you can attach guy wires add them. Lon Tech808 |

Airplane, as long as you don't plan on climbing it you should be ok without guy wires (never hurts to have them tho). You should be fine as Lon suggests at 37 +/- for performance. Mine is about 42' with a support at 15'. It has an IMAX on it and a 2m/70cm small, fixed yagi. I've had no problems, but I do NOT climb it past the bracket point. |

Thanks Tech808, Kirk, How do you get to your antennas if you dont climb higher than 15ft where its bracketed? I`m not sure how Im getting my antenna up on the tower if its 47ft. Well I dont even know how I`m getting the top sections on. the reason I`m not wanting to guy it is cause of the location its going, My deck is in the way and there is no place for the guy cable. Should I put it all together then raise it? Thanks, airplane1 |

Airplane1: What me and my grandfather did, is put it together on the ground, rigged up hinges on one side of the tower, and used a wench to lower it, or raise it, When ever we needed to work, or adjust the antenna... We mounted the wench to a big oak tree. and got extra cable to reach the tower...

Stepchild, Well everything looks OK EXCEPT the part about NO GUY WIRES? Will it be attached to your Roof some way? 5x10 =50' + 1-9' Section and 1 - 3' Mast pipe to mount Imax on = 62' + 24' of IMAX 2000 = 86' of WIND RESISTANCE sticking up = with NO Support. Also you did not say WHAT kind of tower you will be putting up (like Rohn 25G or Rohn 35) In the state you live in and weather you get, a few Guy Wires would be Very Cheap Insurance which I WOULD Very Highly RECOMMEND using.
