I am pouring my cement base for my tower this weekend so I`ll be putting it up very soon.
Now I have four 10ft. sections and a section about 7ft., all togrther 47ft high. now if I only go 37ft with it instead of 47ft will that make a big differance in getting out at all?
The reason I dont want to go 47 ft is then it would be sturdier and I probably wont need to guy it.
although When I got it from a house it was on it was not guyed then and was 47ft. high with a large TV antenna on it, I think the maco v 5/8 is not any heavier than the TV antenna was.
The man I got it from said it was pretty steady even in heavy wind.
I really dont want to guy it so can I get some opinions on this, should I go 47ft or 37ft unguyed?
It will be bracketed at 14ft to my garage roof peak.

My opinion: You can probably do the 47ft, but I would NOT climb the tower w/o it being guyed. My tower is set the same way, almost the same height, bracketed at the roof peak (facia board), but it is guyed at 45ft. And when I climb up there, and it is moving with my body weight (200#), I can tell you I am VERY glad it is guyed! |

10 feet is a significant improvement in takeoff angle.
There are so many variables to consider... Neighbors, building code, etc.
I would go to 47 feet and guy wire it 10 foot from the top.
That is just me, but I would LOVE to have another 10 feet on my antena. |
