Hello Friends I have a question about DeltaForce and AM modulation. I don`t use AM so much, but heard alot about "swing" :-) well my deltaforce have from 2-8 watts deadkey Min/max power.but it dosen`t swing too much :-) on AM with micgain at 12 0`clock my PEAK READING RF POWER METER shows about 3 on the meter and on my AVAIR AV-600 watt meter the power increase from 8 to 10 watt while I say the usall "Four" in to the mic. with micgain at full the result is 5 on the PEAK READING RF POWER METER and, power increase from 8 to 11 watt, (all in to a dummyload) is this correct ?. The user manual says: AM: 8 Watts Average (Max.) 30 Watts Peak (Max.) anyone ? Yours Sincerly Tom In Oslo |

Tom That sounds about right for a stock DeltaForce. With your power turned all the way opened on F/M, that's where you will see around 30 watts. The power you see on F/M is generally the same power you will see on SSB. These Deltas are the first radio I've ever seen do this. In the event that you don't know, there are quite a few upgrade modifications that can be done to the Delta. When done correctly, that radio has capabilities (into a dummyload or "flat" SWR) of 35-38 watts PEP in all modes....sometimes a bit more. I personally own 3 Deltas and can't say enough good things about them. This is the first decent radio to come along since the "1st generation" RCI-2950. Jeff Tech548 |

Tom There are only three ways you could possibly see that much wattage from your Delta. 1- Check the SWR on your dummyload. If it isn't flat, your RF power readings will be incorrect, 2- Your RF power meter is out of calibration (reading high), 3- or possibly your power supply is set at 16 or more volts. Check its voltage. I personally set all of mine at exactly 14 volts. Something just doesn't sound right here. These are very high power readings. Jeff Tech548 |

Hello Jeff I will check as i write this post :-) swr on dummy is correct, also antenna witch is orginal 1.5 when tuned down with tuner to 1.1 shows the same on the AVAIR AV-600. tested my watt meter on my MFJ 941E tuner there the output is 40 watts on FM and 40 watts on ssb, this meter got checked 1 month ago by my local ham shop and found to bee correct :-) it also shows about 105 watts with my FT-990 connected my power supply Daiwa PS.313 shows 14 volts. checked my AVAIR againt my FT-990 now an it shows way too much (10 watts). there is the promlem !! also my meter in MFJ 941E shows a little too much power. Tom I'm glad you found the culprit. When you said that you were getting 40+ watts from a pair of 2sc-1969 finals, something just didn't smell right. Also, when making adjustments into a dummyload with a flat SWR, there really isn't a need for a Tuner. I'm surprised you would be using one anyways unless you have a antenna that isn't tuned for 11 meters. Other than that, it appears that you have a good station there in Norway. Good work Tom. Jeff. |

Patzerozero Personally, I can't say enough good things about these Deltas. For many years I ran the 1st Generation 2950-RCIs until the Deltas were offered to the general public. The Delta's are a great SSB radio. Jeff Tech548 |
