I have a grant XL radio,kl-500 mobile amp and a pyramid 40amp power supply. should I run the radio off a smaller seperate amp then the kl-500 or can I run them together off the 40amp pyramid power supply? Also, Is the DL-60 dummy load good? It is very cheap at $11.00! Thanks a bunch, airplane1

Airplane1 With that much amplifier, yes, I would definately run your radio on a separate power supply. It's always wise to do so especially when running a big amplifier such as yours. It will need all the amperage it can muster from your big power supply. Jeff Tech548 |

Thanks Jeff Tech548, I bought the kl-500 because I wanted 200-350 watts most of the time and thought if I go with a bigger amp then what I need it will run cooler and work better. Would a 3 amp power supply be ok for my radio? Thanks alot, Roger airplane1 |

Airplane I would think a solid 7 amp constant 9 amp surge would do fine. Something like the Pyramid PS 9 KX is fairly inexpensive and should do the job. I used the PS 14KX which was 12 constant and never had a problem running my Cobra 148 GTL but that was probably over kill. |
