I have a chance to purchase a Cherokee CM-5 or a Mini Magnum at a good price. Both have been modified. Are either of these a good radio? Can they be wired to the cars fuse box or do they need to be wired directly to the cars battery? Thanx Wendy |

Wendy, If it was me, My personal choice between the 2 radios would be the Mini Magnum. Both radios can be mounted to the fuse box, but I personally always suggest going to the battery. I have heard many very good reports on the Mini Mag from people who like them and the small size with very good performance. I am not sure but I think Bruce might own one. Hope this helps. Wendy Most of the complaints I had about the CM-5 was the muffled transmitted audio. Or am I thinking of the CM-10? As far as the Mini Mag goes, I have never been in one or have had the opportunity to be in one of them. I do know however, if you don't have a frequency counter attached to it, you'll never know where you are frequency-wise. I never could understand why anyone would ever design and build a multiband radio without a built-in frequency counter. To me, it's kinda like having a talking parrot that you can't hold a decent conversation with. He doesn't have a clue where he is or what the heck he's even talking about. The above are just my personal opinions of parrots and multiband radios without frequency counters or displays. Jeff. |

Hello Everyone, I miss my 148 gtl, and ooooohhh a galaxy 88, or someother radio with a built in freq. counter. The ultimate dream! With my finances getting a decent car wasn't easy. I just needed to get back and forth to work. Someday I'll take pictures so you can help me figure out what besides a mini magnum I can fit in her. Thanks for all the info Wendy |
