when I key the radio, the pre-amp led goes REAL dim also the led for power lights dim. Uniden Grant LT, shooting star 225,RG213U complete in installation, jumper and all,power ing amp with 6GA wire. any ideas? thanks JR. |

Take a volt meter and two stick pins. Push the stick pins into the RED and BLACK wires right at the box. with the amp NOT KEYED , measure the voltage , Then key the amp and measure the voltage. It should be less than 1/2 volt difference. You are not grounded to the body are you? Run Red and Black straight to the battery. If all this is ok , check the ground on your antenna. |

both pos/neg. are to batt.,antenna is grounded, voltage doesnt change enough to make a difference. SWR's are relatively flat! STUMPED! |

It sounds like you lost internal ground on the main board in the amp , Does the amp come on with the Antenna and Radio unplugged? |

Just though of something , chect the DC Blocking capacitor on the TX side of the amp , If it is shorted it will do exactly what you see... |

307.....checked something else....power on low is 'bout 65 watts, med is 125, high is only 40 watts? I'll have to pull out and throw it on the bench to get to the bottom of this. Thanks for all your help so far!.....JR. |
