I have an Antron 99 that got blown over during a tornado we had and it broke the top section. Is it posible to refiberglas the section back together? The internal wire is still intact. |

Add a Firestik Fire-Up 99 instead.

Inklink Or, find an old 102 inch stainless steel whip and cut it down to the same length (about 6 feet) as the original top section was. I don't care what kind of wind you have---you're not going to break that one. Tech833 gave us a good lesson on that subject about a month or so back. Jeff Tech548 |

Tech 548, Just got a 102 inch whip off a friend. Would you happen to know the exact measurment of the top section, seems while I was out on the road some one came over and mowed my lawn and hit the top section that I had sitting in the corner with the weedeater and cut the wire and shatered it even more so now I can't tell the lenth of it. Also when I measure it, do I measure from the end of the threads or were ther threads stop at the nut or were the stinger goes into the nut? Sorry for all the questions, just wanna get it right the first time. lol thnxs for the help. INKLINK KD5YUQ Shaun |

DUH, stoopid me...lol The antenna is 18' long and each section is 6' so there for the top section is going to be 6'. Sorry, posted that last post before I had my cup of coffee. Got it cut and waiting to get to the new house to hook it all up. Thanks for the help. INKLINK KD5YUQ Shaun |

Shaun, I know exactly what you mean by the "coffee thing". I rarely function well and am not pleasent to be around the first thing in the morning until I have at least one cup of it into me. Jeff |

Late post here too... Just for anyone else who has this problem, you can refiberglass it. Mine broke and I redid it. If yours is old and the coating is coming off,you can mix up some resin, if it needs thinning you can thin it will acetone. I brushed my entire antenna and then painted it black. It looks better than new. It works fine, low SWR. |

I really like that steel whip suggestion. It won't break. mikefromms |
