Someone said I could run my Cobra 148 at 15 amps and it would improve performance. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on this and is it true on all radios Thanks Bob |

Volts a buddy said he runs his Cobra 148 GTL at 15 volts and gets better performance. My power supply only did 13.8 until the one I bought Monday that will allow you to do 15 volts, but I have been running it at the 13.8 mark and was just curious. On the other hand he laso said that I should put a 5 amp fuse in the radio, and I have done that. I hope thats no B.S. too. |

Bob_p I whole-heartedly agree with Bruces' opinion. And he knows what he's talking about. Even though you will see a little more RF power output by turning up the voltage on your power supply, the S-Meter on the receiving end will never see that tiny bit of RF power increase. The only thing you are going to accomplish by feeding your radio with higher voltages will be a shorter lifespan for that radio. Never let anyone talk you into cranking up your power supply voltage to more than 14-14.5 volts maximum. Factory settings of power supplies at 13.8-14 volts are set that way for a reason. Personally, I "NEVER" set any of my power supplies at more than 14 volts. Jeff Tech548 |

Thanks I appreicate your help. The guy who told me to try this seems to have more than his share of radio problems. Hmmm.. I guess this sort of explains a few things. Thanks again Bob |
