Does the KLV 400 have a preamp? The discription on copper does not say if it does or not. Thanks, airplane1 |

Yes it has a Pre-Amp with On/Off Switch. If you notice in the link/picture below that you have three rocker switches. http://www.copperelectronics.com/shop/catalog/images/products/W90-000215.jpg The 1st switch on the left is for SSB/AM (below the red light). The 2nd switch (center) switch is for PRE On/Off (below the amber/yellow light) in the center. The 3rd switch on the right is your ON/OFF Power switch / (below the green light.) Hope this helps. Hi Lon, I`m sorry I was not clear when I posted this question, I was asking about the base amp KLV400 that is under the copper export base amps. Thanks, airplane |

Airplane1, No problem, I do not think the KLV-400 Base has a Pre-Amp in it but the KLV-550 does have the 26db Gain Pre-Amp. I should have mentioned both for you. Lon Tech808 |

Thanks Lon, what preamp could I hook up for this amp setup or do you think the kL400 mobile would be just as good, It just does not have the power output the base kLv400 base has. I am so confused about what I want to get that maybe I should just ask what would be a good for what I already have. I have a grant XL, just ordered a maco v 5/8 from copper and going to have it at least 25ft at base of antenna on the tower. All I need it to measure how much coax I need (about 150ft) and an amp somewhere in the 200-400watt range on AM. Thanks so much for all your patients with all my questions, airplane1 |
