Airplane1,

For best performance try for a Minimum of 36 feet from the ground to the Boom of the M103 or as high as you can get it.

Should the elements on the beam be horizontal or vertical?
Thanks,

Airplane1,the difference in the 2 Maco v5/8 is one is rated 1.2kw and the other rated 5kw.polarity on a yagi like the M-104 is a toss up.Let's say your at your qth in Pa. and your talking to Danny 351 in Austrailia,Danny runs his 5 ele yagi in the horizontal posisition which gives him horizontal polarity.after the signal leaves his antenna and travels half way around the world his signal has bounced back and forth between the f2 layer of the ionosphere and the ground 4 to 5 times and every bounce the polarity is effected.so while he is transmitting horizontal you might recieve him better on vertical polarity.a rotor can be installed on a boom to turn it through 180 degrees to help in fine tuning polarity and phase.Have I got this sort of correct Tech 833?so horizontal, vertical?most would opt to go horizontal I believe.
