Hey all, New to the forum, know a little about CBs, have a question. I just got a "Like new" uniden Grant LT from Uniden. It looks pretty good, and at least appeared to RX/TX properly during the quick 15 minutes test stint, but i noticed on the back there seems to be a knob that was installed in the middle of the spec sticker. My guess is that it was (or is) a modded radio. I'm sure it got reworked at the factory, but it could also have been severely torn up inside, and not knowing Unidens refurbishment practices, I don't want to inherit any problems. Has anyone run into this before? Does anyone have an idea what it might be? Should I be sending it back? Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks,

Phyreblayde Are you saying you bought this radio from a dealer that carries refurbished Uniden radios? To the best of my knowledge, Uniden refurb centers do not, and never have, let radios go out the door with holes drilled in them and strange knobs hanging off the back of them. Something just doesn't sound quite right here. Jeff. |

Yeah, that is weird....I bought one of the "like new" Grants LT at Uniden's website. The radio is absolutely all the way brand new, mint, not a single scratch or blemish anywhere, and certainly no holes or extra controls. I would send that one back and ask for an exchange. Sounds to me like someone goofed. |

Well here's the story. I went to Unidens and tried to order the "Like New" Uniden Grant LT online, but for some reason I got an error page. So I called the sales number on the website to see if the order had gone through. It hadn't, so I went ahead and ordered it from the guy over the phone. A few days later I get this radio, the box is a little tired, but the packaging and everything in it was immaculate. The front faceplate is flawless and is seems to work fine, except, of course, for the the fact that it has this aftermarket knob in the back. I guess i'm going to call them tomorrow and send it back. I was thinking something wasn't kosher but i wanted to be sure. Thanks for the advice!! Phyreblayde |

By looking at the radio, you cannot tell the diffrence between the refurbs and the new one's.. If you can, thier is a chance someone pulled a fast one on you.... |

Yeah, I did get the feeling that i was being hoodwinked.. I called them up and the lady i spoke to just said I should send it back, Attn: RMA dept. She didn't give me an RMA number or anything. I really hope I'm not about to get the runaround... |
