Mrblack

If this is the one I think it is, try this.

1- Unplug the radio and remove top and bottom covers.

2- With the front of the radio facing you, locate R-285 just in front of the transmit--receive relay mounted on the main PCB in the right rear of the radio. Unsolder rear lead of this resister.

3- After lifting R-285, install a (1N4001) rectifier diode with the banded side down in the rear hole of R-285. You may have to drill out the hole a little to get the diode stem through.
Note: This will also work without the resistor as some people remove it all together.

4- Next, twist both the diode and resister leads together and then solder them, making sure all connections are well soldered and nothing is touching any other circuits.

5- Plug the radio in and turn mode selector to A/M. Turn RF Pwr control fully clockwise. Adjust L-19, L-48, L-47, L-46 and L-43 for the maximum power on watt meter into a 50 Ohm dummy load.

6- Now adjust (high power) VR-13 to 10 watts maximum on watt meter.

7- Turn RF power knob fully counter clockwise and adjust (low power) VR-15 to 1.5 to 2 watts.

The end results will be a foward swing of around 25-30 watts A/M and 30-40 watts SSB.

Jeff.

PS: This radio is no longer manufactured.

Do not remove the limiter on this radio... I have yet to see a 10meter radio, were removing, clipping or lifting the diode did not hurt the radio.. thier are other mods that can be done THAT IS MUCH BETTER THAN PLAYING WITH THE LIMITING DIODE..

Let me suggest a book for you to pick up instead.. it is call the ultimate modifications bible vol 11... UMB11 is another name... It has a mod in thier that works great gor this radio... Coppers might be able to help you thier, i know they have some books, and they might have this one, i don't konw.......

NEVER CUT THE LIMITER OUT OF A 10 METER RADIO!!! Several CB'S for that fact, but not all cb's.....
