I have a mule 2x4 amp that is acting strange. When I key up and talking I hear a lot of "clicking" from inside the amp at times. It dead keys 400 to 500 and swings to 800 - 1000. Some times though it will deadkey 500, swing briefly to 700 or 800 "click", then down to 50. I am using a Connex 3300HP that is set at a deadkey of about 3.5, swings to over 50 (over 70 on a dummy load & bird). If I stick the mic in front of the speaker to get a tone, it will swing from 500 to around 950-1000 and hold there. Any ideas? Running it off 4 large truck batteries in a 379, 140 amp alternator, hooked up to #4 wire. Any comments would be appreciated.... Stogie 525 CEF 345 |

Does the amp have a AM / SSB switch? Just asking. otherwise you might need to take a look at the keying circuit. If you are sure you have enough amps to drive the amp. |

Your rms is too high. should be 1 x 4 or 1 x 3 minimum. Forget about numbers and run your equipment at its most efficient. Would you buy a new ford mustang and drive it 120 mph all the time. I hope not. |
