Hi, Can anyone tell me what the best coax is with best shielding to run about 150 foot from base to antenna? It might even be closer to 200 foot. also is that distance to far to run coax? Thanks, airplane1 |

Because of the long length, I would suggest some low loss coax that can withstand the abuse of the outdoor weather. I would also suggest some full size coax due to length. Something small like RG-58 would be very lossy. Maybe some RG-213 for starters, but there are better low loss coaxes out there such as Times Microwave LMR 400, RFDavis Buryflex and Belden that would help you out for those long runs, and are good quality coax. Most of these are, or can be purchased ordered with double shielding. For that length, I suggest "buy quality" and do it right the first time. Alsworld |

I have a 210 ft run, I used the 213, and it seems to work fine. |

200 feet is nothing at 27 MHz. However, it would be highly suggested that you use Heliax cable for the run. You don't just lose transmitter watts with lossy cable, you also lose receive microvolts and you stand the chance of getting a lot of noise in your receive from RG type cables on longer runs. |
