Sidewinder,i don't know how to repair it but know what happened. They put covers on RFamps for a number of reasons, one to keep stray RF contained,to prevent RF burns, and to keep us mike jockeys from zapping our rigs and ourselves. On tube amps there's a corona that forms on the surface of the power tube during tx,producing a static charge which can be quite large.Tube amps also have a hot chassis tens of volts hotter than anything in your radio. It may cost more than it's worth to repair. |
