The older one 1980-1985 also has the finals the same size as the driver (1)455 driving (8) 455s. Nice stock amps but they don't do big watts......an Xforce X400 would show a lot more watts. |

Thanks Sparkomatic. How would you compare the M4V to the 667V ? |

There have been a few diffrent versions of the M4V Mine had 2990's for the finals I got it new around 1995, it was a very nice box. The new current run of M4V's have SD1446 for finals, these are a good final also but I personaly like 2990s or 2879s. As for the M4V vs TX667v, I have had both and personal liked the my 2990 M4V more With the current finals the M4V has a greater output(90-100w each of the 8 finals)about 800w when not overdriven, and still linear. The 667v with its 4 2879 finals at 125w each you get about 500w of clean power staying linear and not over driven. Both amps will do more but you start to lose audio quality and start to splatter causing TVI |

The M4V is a lot more quality but from what I've personally seen the output is pretty close. Some claim 700 from both but that is comical 550 watts pep from both is more realistic. The messenger is I think over 100 bucks more. A 5 pill Xforce with ssb biasing is hard to beat and costs less. |

Thanks to both of you for your imput. I think I,m going to go with with the M4V. I too have seen the quality and think it would meet my needs for SSB. The Xforce sounds great too, but I like the remote with the M4V. This way I can keep it away from my trucks computer. You both have given me some great imput. My deepest thanks! icepick.............. |

The Xforce can be ordered with a remote of any length. |

I have a Messenger amp that I think is an M-1200, it has (2) MRF-454 driving (8) SD-2879s, but mine only says "10 meter amp" on it. |
