the s/rf signal meter needle won`t move. it recieves and transmits fine. i checked to see if the wire`s inside were loose, but to no avail. can anyone help me? i have a replacement meter from a cobra 89 that i`ll use if the meters defective. any input would be appreciated.tnx ,rightwing.

Follow these instructions:

1) Remove the covers to gain access to the meter.
2) Using an Exacto Knife , pierce the tape that covers the set screw on the rear top of the meter.
3) Using an Exacto Knife , scratch off the lock-tite surrounding the set screw (you must do this or it will strip when you turn it).
4) Rock the set screw back an forth with a tiny screwdriver , NO MORE THAN 1/2 TURN either way.
5) Try it out , it should work.

It's a solution used to keep nuts and bolts from coming loose. It makes things tight, but where you still can get them to come apart.
