A friend runs a 8' Francis Amazer on his toolbox with an Xforce XT-400 and he is thinking of volting it which means a 500-600 watt DK swinging 1500-1600 watts pep. If anyone knows the power handling specs I would appreciate it.

I don't have any specs here in front of me but I believe Bullet is correct. If your friend wants to run that long of an antenna, why not just go with a Stainless Steel 102" whip and not worry about it. The SS whip will easile handle that kind of RF power.

the 8 foot will only handle 1000 before it has a melt down and that is it 800 would push it hard and it WILL get HOT !!!
tell him to get the 102 like Jeff said and be done !!!

In my earlier post to you I forgot to ask you how he expects to get 1500-1600 watts from a X-Force XT-400 when volting the finals.

WOW. Even powered at 20 volts I'd be hard pressed to believe that it will see that kind of output wattage.

Just curious.

Ok the 8 foot will hold around a 1000watt's, how many watt's will the FRANCIS 5 1/2 foot hold? Just put two on my truck with a Texas Star 500V amp, safe or not safe?

It really depends on the mounts. I mean, in reality, on a cheap mount, the 8 foot whip won't handle 50 watts.
