Is the modification for the 3900 10Khz switch posted in Subscriber (Preview) » Product Reviews » Super Star 3900 » Review still accurate? It is a year old already! Are the radios still the same? Would really like to have that option but with a new radio I'm hesitant. Especially after reading a post about one poor guy who lost lower channels after he did it! Or tried to! Anyway, I want to make sure I have it right. Thanks, Dave 376RI |

Dave, As far as I know the Mods are still the same. Just a thought, but a lot of people do modification's and are then unhappy with them or they expect more than the Mod will actually give them. Try the radio first and if it does everything you want forget the Mod's. You may find that it work's great and need's no mods. Also if you do not feel comfortable or have experience with doing Modification's then do not try them. Lon Tech808 |

Thanks Lon, I just want'd to be sure the Mod is current and correct. As the forum rules say: 'We (Copper Electronics, Inc.) do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy of any information posted here.' That said, I thought I'd ask. I owned a 3900 from '88 until I sold it in '97 for a Lincoln and I'm certain I recall a 10Khz slide. I thought that this one would be the same! And as I talk on Alpha's (alot) I would say I almost need that option. You know there's nothing kills the resale of a radio more than having a 'golden' screwdriver applied to it! I pride myself in the TX quality of my station(s) and 'None' of my radios have ever been modified by anyone who wasn't a qualified technician. Changing the Pwr output, wiring a mike, or replacing a part is one thing. Running a wire from here to there (with a switch) is another thing entirely. Without schematics who knows! It's not that I feel uncomfortable, it's doing a mod with potentially bad info and botching things up because of it. Too bad Copper doesn't offer that mod as an option. Thanks again Lon. Dave 376RI Can I return the 3900 and get a Lincoln! |
