Hey, anyone know if the linear side of my palomar 35a should work as a mobil box?. I smoked it as I was running it on HIGH without realizing it . I never run it on high., About 10 minutes or so later & bzzzzzpow!. Smoke only came out of the power supply side. I cut the hot & ground wires from the power supply side to the linear side & hooked the linear side up to a car battery & the lights lit up on the linear side. But,it just buzzes real loud A second or two when I plug it in to 110 & it blows the fuse on the back.

Just looking for any opinions on how to tell if it may be worth buying a 40 amp or bigger power supply to try using that way or, would it be worth a try to see if it keys up in my vehicle. I don't have any big gauge wire to run it from next to my radio in the car to the battery,But I really don't want to buy any if someone out there can tell me it's not worth it,Cause I'm no tech. I'm just needing advise on weather or not it's worth a try.

I'm sure it's not too difficult to gut it to lessen the weight & use the exsisting left side of it for a heat sink where the linear is already located & make some kind of case. (to use as a mobile box)
But,someone may could save me the trouble now if you may think the linear got shot with the power supply side.? Thanks for any suggestions.

It sounds like you blew up both the amplifier and the power supply if I am reading your post right.
By cutting the power supply leads to the amplifier and hooking it up to a battery it should have worked if the amplifier was good.
For sure if you plug it in and the fuse blows something is wrong with the power supply.

Thanks Monk, I just tried it with a 35 amp power supply & it still does 350 on medium & swings 600. I guess I just got lucky this time,
I went & bought a new one anyway, & the new one stinks,. I mean only 40 watts on low-150 on medium & 200 on high. & not a lot of swing Roughly from 200 to 400 on hi. So, took it back ,got a replacement, & exact same deal.
So, I'm gonna get me a 50 amp power supply & keep my old one in the house.. It keys 175 on low Swinging 600. Medium keys 350 swinging almost 800 . & my meter is'nt that free either.
Anyway Monk,
Thanks for replying.
By the way, i've had my old one for 2 years & I hope when it goes south I can find one like it.
