I have a tower with a pipe clamped to it with the rotor mounted on it. The top side of rotor has a 8 foot 1-3/4" fence pipe. Right now there is only a A-99 at the top, but if ups pulls through in a couple of weeks I will have a PDL-2 to mount up there also. My main question is can I mount the PDL-2 on the mast and leave the vertical where it is? This would leave the upper portion of pdl with vertical between elements, and the lower portion of pdl would have the mast and part of tower also between elements. How much effect would this have on beam? Any ideas are welcome. Thanks |

I have mounted antrons in between beams before with no great noticable effects. We used our beams for DX and our antrons for local talking. I really noticed nothing except I did lose gain on the reflector side of my antron which is understandable, not alot but some. |

Not sure if this will help, but I asked Tech833 about mounting my ANTTRON 305 above my Beams and he suggested to mount the Bottom (Load/Base of Antenna) above the TOP of the Tallest element of the Beam. Tech833 should read this and he can give you the Best Information. Hope this Help's. Lon Tech808 |

What if I can replace the pole from the tower to rotor to 11' above tower. Then come out of rotor 11' and place beam about 1' above rotor and vertical on that. Would rotor in center w/ metal mast in both directions be ok? |

Sitm, I let you know. Found out today the mail is slower than I thought. Probaly be 3 weeks or so before I get it. Afer more research found that it would be best to just mount pdl and forget about the a-99. It will be best mounted at another location. Lon, along with not mounting a-99 inside beam, the beam can't be around tower. This creates a problem. Does anyone know where to get a mounting plate for rotor and a thrust bearing. I am using a Rohn 25G. |

i like to "keep em seperated". i think thats a song! ive got my colinear on one tower and beams on another tower about 2 wavelengths apart. i dont want my omni's distorting my beams any! |

It's always better to mount any vertical above a beam so that the elements of the ebam are clear of the vertical. Reduces any chance of interactin between the antennas. Now surprisingly an unconnected antenna can be a major source of RFI if a transmitter is operated on the antennas resonant frequency (not always but often enough to be a concern). So no matter how you space the two try to ensure the non used antenna is connected to groundvia a grounding antenna switch. You might not need it BUT you never know. |
