how does the 296 do on side band? can you do any mods to this radio? thanks for your input. |

I HAVE 4 FRIENDS THAT HAVE THE 296 AND USE THEM ON SIDE BAND ALL THE TIME AND THEY SOUND GOOD AND THE SIGNAL DOES NOT FLOAT ON THE ONES THEY HAVE.THEY ARE WORTH A TRY. |

can the clarifier be unlocked? also how does the 296 rate to the galaxy 949 ,i have a 949 it transmits well but the receive is lacking i have trouble tuning people in with clarifier. can you reccomend a 11 meter ssb mobil thanks for your help. |

619, The 2950DX is probably your best bet for affordable sideband operation. If you plan on doing a lot of SSB talking, stay away from the Galaxy radios. Steve Tech181 Tech181@copperelectronics.com |
