Can anyone offer some assistance in helping me troubleshoot a radio which has me pulling my hair out? I have a Galaxy II the old version of the DX88HL.. 5 bands, no echo, etc. Believe it's the 10A Board but I don't have it to look at right now. The radio was working fine on transmit when I put it into my car a week ago. As long as the linear was turned off the radio talked like a dream. When I turned the linear on I could hear a squealing sound in the talkback and then the radio transmit just went dead. I have tried replacing both finals and the driver. I've been looking through the service manual and checking transistor voltages. I have the proper voltages up to the TX RF Predriver but after that nothing seems to be right. The Driver does not have the proper voltage at all, both final amplifier transistors only have the proper voltage at the base, both finals and the driver are not showing any noticeable collector voltages. The 2SB754 AM modulator, and the other related AM Modulator transistors are also not showing the proper voltages. I am sure that the two have something in common. The amplifier shouldn't be at fault because it is fairly new and I have used it for nearly 6 months on my DX66v. I would be willing to lay money that it is something simple that I am overlooking such as a burnt resistor or a blown cap but a visual inspection hasn't located anything. If anyone can give me a little advice or help I would most definitely appreciate it. |
