I just put a 64" whip on the toolbox of my truck. i am using about 14' of coax. i was able to even the swr's on channels 1 & 40, the swr's are at 1.9 since the swr's are even is this the best i can expect. thanks 619 |

619, As you do not state what Kind / Brand of whip it is makes it hard to guess. If tool box is mounted on a newer truck you might not have a good ground. Try running a ground wire from Tool Box to Frame. Some of the wire wound whips can be tuned for a lower SWR. Most smaller/shorter Whips are Tuneable (But not all of them are.) Hope this helps. Tech808, It is a radio shack #21-988, the coil is non-adjustable. I will try adding a copper grounding strap from the toll box to the bed of truck thanks, 619 |
