Here is my question/problem that I am experiencing at this time with a President Washington radio that I recently acquired. When using it on side band, the clarifier has been married to track transmit and receive at the same time. But when I tune in to the person’s voice that I am listening to or receiving then my transmission to them is off by just a little, maybe a cycle or two. Not very much just enough to be annoying. Thus making them adjust to me, then we end up dancing across the frequency. I have looked through all the CB Tune Up Manuals (Masters Editions 1-7) and have not found and listings for the President Washington, using the PLL858 chip. My question is this: Would it be the same TX Freq. Adjust as stated in manual #1 on page 65 as used in the President Madison 858PLLchip. If not can some one help me as to what the Tx Freq. Adjustment would be in the 858PLL chip in the President Washington? OHIOBIKER “575”...TA5275 Walter... |

Ohiobiker Yes, the old 858 Madison and Washington had the same PC board in them. Just out of curiousity, what is the total range of your clarifier from lock-to-lock? Jeff, kc0gxz. |

First of all thank you for the info, I assumed that the two boards might be the same. But you know sometimes what happens when you assume things. As for the claririer, Well it goes slightly lower than it goes up, I slide down appox 6-7 kc and up only 3-4, which to me is fine. As long as i can side down 5Kc,s and hit the in-between freqs I will be all right. I am the 2nd owner of the radio so I know it has had little done to it, in fact the old fellow I got it from only had it channeled for the above freqs, so it only goes to 27.805, none below. I do very little AM transmiting at all. I am a die hard freebander,27.757 and the call is 575 or Trans-America 5275.....maybe we"ll chat some time. I run a Cobra 2K and my Favorite FT 101-Z, I picked the old style 101-Z (not ZD) just for the fact as it has no AM board in it. lol....Well thanks so much again...Walter...757 |
