i have a grant xl pc board pb208ad the radio keys up but i have no audio it is not a mic problem can anyone tell me what to check ond how to check it also i have a 2nd grant xl also made in the philippines it has a pc board tje018hb how did this happen is this as good as the pb208ad board thanks bill |

Does the PA funtion work? If not, try changing the ta7222ap. You might be able to see a crack in it even upon removal. |

i have no audio on the pa and i cant seem to locate ta7222ap on my circuit diagram or in the radio |

sounds like a blown audio chip. cant say for shure im not a tech. |

The audio chip ta7222p (IC6) is a common failure point in these radios. It should have the following voltages: 1- 13.53 2- 6.51 3- 0 4- 0 5- 0 6- 1.15 7- 0 8- 0 9- 6.76 10- 12.79 If wer're looking at the same schematic, it's the sideways triangle (pointing left) in the lower right hand corner. |

Screwed to the side of the chassis and soldered to the board. Right side 2 inches from the front with the cover off the speaker side looking at it from the front, little black thing one screw holding it. |

just replaced the ta7222pa still no audio pin1=13.4v pin2=0v pin6=0v pin9=6.5v pin10=3v thanks bill |

I'm in the process of replacing ta7222 also. I have no audio in or out, except ssb i can talk but it may be only the powermike supplying the audio. Can you hear any static or even a hum or slight clicking ? |
