I have a valor base station antenna. It is a straight vertical in three sections with the two tuning rings on bottom of bottom section. How and where do I start with the rings to tune this antenna to use? I do not have the booklet that originally came with it. It looks like the antron a - 99 or whatever the brand is you guys are always talking about. Anyway, if I can get this up for temporary use, it will solve some of my sunday net problem of trying to talk from the car.
Thanks for the help. You can e mail answer straight to me if you would like. keithinatlanta@juno.com

Moving the rings up will shorten the antenna electrically, moving them down will lengthen it. Shorten it to make it more resonant at higher freqquencies, lengthen it to make it more resonant at lower frequencies---kind of like tuning a guitar string.

As stated in the chat room if it's like antron 99 & Imax 2000 the rings should be preset from the factory.
And if it's new antenna.
Try putting it up and check the swr see what happens.
Just my 2 cents.

Keith...

I have this vision of a Valor A99 look-alike bolted to the bumper of a car this Sunday.....
