Ok, Since you did not specify which KLV 400 Amplifier MOBILE OR BASE you were asking about the Specification's for BOTH KLV 400 Amplifier's are shown below. KLV 400 MOBILE Amplifier KLV 400 Electronic switch Inversion polarity protection Frequency HF Input energy/power 12-24 A Input power 1-10 W Input power SSB 2-20 W Output power 200 W Max Output power SSB 400 W PEP Max Mode AM-FM-SSB-CW Fuse 2x12 A Output power level 6 Size 170x210x62 mm Weight 980 g Antenna preamplifier 26 dB http://www.copperelectronics.com/cgi-bin/checkitout/checkitout.cgi?catalogSTORE:CKIE:prodW90-KL400+ or The KLV 400 BASE Amplifier KLV 400 Electronic switch Frequency 26-30 MHz Input energy/power 650 VA Input power 1-10 W Input power SSB 2-20 W Output power 250 W Max Output power SSB 500 W PEP Max Mode AM-FM-SSB-CW Fuse 3 A (220V) Output power level 2 Size 310x250x140 mm Weight 7,5 Kg http://www.copperelectronics.com/cgi-bin/checkitout/checkitout.cgi?catalogSTORE:CKIE:prodW90-KLV400+ They have Different Specification's and Copper carries Both Amplifier's. Hope this helps. Lon Tech808 |

Ok, my fault. I should have specified which amp I was inquiring about. I have read the specs on the KLV 400 Base amp and connot believe this amp will produce 500w. Has any of the techs tested this amp and found the claimed outputt to be true or false? Just trying to get some professional info before I purchase an amp. |

Get the klv 550 base,I have one ,on its own meter it shows 600 watts ssb,on my 5yr. old digital, lcd, remote-sense radio shack swr/power meter,525 watts,I still cant see where tubes, that several web sites say are 70 watts, can put out 3 times that,it just does not compute, would someone explain. |

Bigbob, the KLV 550 base was my first choice. My second choice was the KLV 1000. But, my coax won't handle 1kw. (RG8x)So, I'm lookin for something in the 500w range.I want some info. And need it pretty fast. Would like to make a decission by Monday so I can get my order in and have the amp before next Sundays NET. Any and all information is welcome. Send me an email. |

Rg8x should handle 3kw,others have used it with the klv1000 just make sure your swr is very low,and hold your keydowns to 30 seconds if your worried, you can say alot in 30 seconds,in the subscriber section there is a write up of the klv550,it was tested with 2 diff radios, and watt readings were given on all 6 levels. |

I remember those articles. They all did a good job. I'm kinda stuck between the klv 1000 and the klv 550. Hmmmmmmmm Decissions, decissions.... |

The klv1000 drive with 4 watts 600 am 1200 ssb,now 307 told me if you drive the 1000p with a dual final radio(2312c finals) you should see about the same output as the klv550 without having to turn down your radio(300 am 600 ssb)and if you upgrade to a 100 watt radio you got an automatic upgrade on the amp double the output or a 3db increase,so if you get the 1000p you can't lose,it'd be like getting a bullet proof 550,if driven by your current radio,so you have a kick butt radio and amp! |
