I got my KL40 amp today and I want to test it out on my uniden/president grant (version with push buttons). I am afraid that the radio will burn out the amp even though the radio is putting out stock power. How can I turn down the output wattage of the radio? What is the recommended wattage to drive these little amps? |

814, Is this the Grant with the 4 buttons in the middle of the radio under the S-Meter and Channel indicator? Six knobs on the left hand side? If so here's the tweaks... AM Power VR-11 SSB Power VR-8 MOD VR-12 Run the KL-40 with no more than a 2 watt dead key. Actually at 1 1/2 watts it should have a 16 watt output and swing to around 40+ Steve Tech181 Tech181@copperelectronics.com |

VR11 didn't seem to have any effect on the AM output. VR8 did bring down the SSB though. I wasn't able to locate VR12. But then again,I cut the modulation resistor a while ago, so I don't think VR12 would have any effect anyways. |
