Doggone it Johnny, if you can afford THAT radio, I'm beginning to wonder if the State of Oregon is paying it's employees TOO MUCH! When my wife dies first and leaves me the family fortune, thats the EXACT radio I'm buying.... Right now, the Book Keeper is a little tight,,, |

I just sold mine (PRO II) after owning it for more than a year. I agree the color LCD screen is beautiful. But for me the most important job for a rig is it receive qualities. As some of you know I recently picked up a little Kenwood TS-50. I am amazed at this little rigs receive. When doing A/B comparisons between the proII and the ts-50 I can copy weak signals better than the icom! Yes, you read that correctly. My little ts-50 which cost me one quarter of the price of the pro can copy low signals better. It doesn't even have any filters in it. I don't think DSP filtering is really that advanced yet. I just picked up a Yaesu 1000MP Mark V Field and couldn't be happier. This rig is a hybrid and uses both analog and digital filtering. If you can try one before you buy. Good luck |
