Most likely the TX side (cans) are out of whack. Inject a tone of about 1 Khz into the microphone on TX and tweak all the TX cans. In most cases the TX cans are all lined up in a row , the RX cans are spread around on the main board. Try it...

307 I had told you about my vr9000 being off freq when cold and I had the x2 14.010 crystal checked and it was at 14.0259 and when cold would go higher.the crystal I had made is at 14.0118.It is closer on freq than the factory one. the problem I have is that it is closer on freq but when I put it in it was 10 khz off to the low side.my local cb shop tried to adjust L19 L20 and L21,but the cans bottom out before it gets on freq.I tried it off freq and used the 10khz button to put it on freq and used it that way and I do not have any float on freq at all now but is there any thing else that can be adjusted to put the radio on freq as it should be.my local tech does not know.please help I am lost now.thank you Sonoma

ok 307 or 181 here is another 9000 question .I changed the crystal and all was working.now I have a static noise and carrier on usb lsb and am when I key the mic.it is not a squeel but a loud hiss type noise.checked all the solder joints and could not see anything.also at 1st if you had the antenna hooked up and disconnected the ground wire the radio still worked then after I checked the joints and hooked it backup the ground had to be hooked up to make it come on.thanks sonoma

OK I found my problem after looking close at the schematic.the d124 diode was bad .took it out and put it on the diode checker and it showed to be good but that was the 1st thing that could cause my problem so I installed a new one and problem solved.diode had to be weak because it helped my 10khz problem also.sonoma

SONOMA AND 307,what do you think about isolating the ground side of the xtal and putting a low value choke in series.A little more inductance may get the cans more centered, but don't go overboard.About 6 to 10 micro-henrys.

Anyone know where I can get a copy of the schematic for the VR9000?

Thanks,

Jim
