if you will make it easy for me, i will help. in other words, find the link to the schem for that radio and post it here. but give me a little time. i have been working about 70hrs a week for the last 2 weeks, so my time has been limited. if i don't answer in a few days, email me as i may forget with so many posts on this forum. |

we have had an ice storm here in the carolina's. i got to the shop and back fine yesterday. today was another story. i got about a 1/4 of the way there and had a coke tractor trailer slide off the road in front of me. i tried to dodge it and my truck lost grip and got sideways. i then had to gas it into a field to keep from sliding into the coke truck. he took out about 3 other cars..i drove my truck out of the field and came back home. now my wife knows why i call it the 'monster truck'. my point is that because of this, i was able to get to this faster than i thought...i have nothing better to do at home(besides the cleaning my wife was fussing about). ----------------------------- so here it is.... TR4 is the pre-amp transistor TR2 is the relay driver for RL2, also called the keying transistor. it basically closes RL2 when the radio is keyed so that TR5 & TR6 (finals/pills) can amplify the incoming rf from the radio. TR1 & TR3 work together as the driver and switching circuit for relay RL1. this allows the rf carrier from a radio to bypass the pre-amp. when the amp is on and radio is not keyed into the amp, TR3 is on causing RL1 to stay closed so that rx rf from the antenna can pass through the pre-amp circuit. when the radio is keyed, Tr1 turns on which turns TR3 off, which causes relay RL1 to open so that the rf carrier from the radio bypasses the pre-amp. by looking at the schem there is no on/off switch for the pre-amp. it would be easy to add one by pulling one leg of R3 up and bridging this with a switch. |

it really wasn't all that bad david. max speed at the time of the incident was about 10mph. the cars that were hit had already slid off the road. no one was hurt. conditions have cleared up a lot. infact, i am at work now taking care of some things that i missed earlier today. ----------------- johnhenre, if any of what i posted above was confusing let me know. |
