Tech307, A buddy & myself have RCI-2950's mine a Mirage and his a regular 2950. We both have a problem. I'm not sure but I think it's called "Front-end overload". At any rate, when the radio is in the presence of heavy AM traffic from either high-powered radios or close ones that are transmitting you hear a transmission but it sounds like a person talking with a rag over their mouth. If I'm on 40 you can hear 19 traffic, What can be done ? Any mods that you know of ? 442SD |

Sd442 I know that your post was to Tech-307 but I was just wondering if there has been any modifications made to those two receivers. If they have been "inhanced" in any way, you're asking for trouble. I have always been a big fan (still have 5 of them) of the old original RCI-2950/70. And I'm very well aware of the problems they had (and still have) with their sloppy receivers. Their transmitter section even today is still one of the best in the industry. Jeff, kc0gxz. |

You might try turning RF gain down. |

Typically there is a varaition of Local Oscillator adjustments that once they get "older" may drift off and cause this exact problem. It sounds like you need a full alignment which you can get the procedure at www.rangerusa.com 307 |
