Based on the specs. Astatic has, the only difference between them is the 600 has three seperate meter faces, where the 700 has one face and a selector control to move among the various modes (SWR, wattage, ect). I have a 700: nice meter, they're made by Para Dynamics. |

why would you rather have the 700 then the 600? taz |

I have the 600 and it's okay. The light in the gauges really aren't all that great. Very dim. The watt meter seems pretty accurate. As does the modulation meter. I'm still wondering about the SWR meter. I'm going to have to compare it to the SWR meter on my antenna tuner, which is coming in the mail. I'm assuming that the SWR meter on the the 600 is accurate too. Which means I have sky high SWRs, and the SWR meter on my radio blows.. =) |

It's just a matter of preference. Having three large meters looks great, but I rarely monitor all parameters. For the most part, the meter stays in the modulation setting. So, one meter face does the job. If you want to be able to monitor everything at once, then the 600 would be right for you, though the SWR reading will not be accurate while you're talking. |
