I guess it has been noted before that Q51 audio power amp in the 2950 runs hot with swing mods. I never really noticed it in the two years I ran the radio in stock form. A couple months back I swapped out the 2SB754 with a NTE37 as suggested by the RCI Web mods, along with the swing mod. The mods worked very well, but I really notice now the heat that comes from Q51. I know the original ceramic insulator was keeping some of the heat away from the chassis, so I replaced it with a normal mica insulator. It sure does transfer the heat now. I know the biggest reason to replace the 754 is to increase the heat dissipation and durability of the device. I am just concerned with the heat from this thing. The radio is working great, and I dont really use it that much on AM anyway, but I wonder about all the other rigs that use the same audio power amp. Do they all get so warm before and after the swing mods ?

Anyone know the mod for Volting the Finals ? I was told this would help with the high temps on the audio power amp...
