This radio receives on all bands, PA works also, it shows no TX on it's meter nor on a bench meter. Could the final be at fault? Thanks |

well mine has done the same thing but i cant think of what it was to save my life but i think it was a resistor close to the finals but mine barely moves the needle on a watt meter not even a 1/8 of a watt but i think i have another resistor blowed over by the pot that turns the low and high dead key up yours might be something different i dont think it would be the final unless the driver went out because if it was the final it would still run off the driver final |

Snowman709: I'll look at the areas that you've mentioned and see if I can find something wrong there. Meanwhile I'll check back here to see if other suggestions are posted. I don't know much about this type of radio so any and all help is appreciated. Thanks for your input Snowman709. |

Does anyone else have some ideas as to what it might be? |

it could be a number of things.... am modulator/voltage reg, or one of the drivers in this circuit. the legs that hold the mirror board may have poor solder connections. the tx mixer could be shot, or the intermediate driver, pre-driver, driver or the finals. yes if the finals go bad there will be no tx. the drivers power can't get through bad finals(if both are bad, and if they are completely bad). that is like driving your car into a brick wall, it all stops there. this is just some of the more common problems. the 99v is a radio that only a person that knows what he is doing should be working on. we have more of those shipped in than any other radio because many other shops are affraid to touch them. the best thing you could do for your 99v is send it to 307. from what i hear he has very reasonable rates. snowman, there is no such thing as a driver final. the driver and final are completely seperate. if either go completely bad, there will be no power output at all. there is a such thing as not being completely bad, i have seen it. when this happens, then you may have a some output, but not what it should be. |
