i don't think that you need to see an eye doctor. if this is the 1st generation 2950 there is a variable resistor on the cpu board that will fix your problem. |

Goose I can remember sometime back reading about a 1st generation RCI 2950 display doing what you described. I believe it had something to do with the voltage regulator on the display board. Or something around the voltage regulator. I personally have never seen one do this but I know it does happen. I'm sorry I can't be of more help to you at this time. Hopefully someone else knows the cure. As far as different colored bulbs, Radio Shack may have what you are looking for. The glass bulbs have to be of small diameter and also have to be rather short. And they also have to be 6 volt bulbs. Radio Shack does however have some rubber caps that will slip over the bulbs. The bulbs in your radio have the ugly orange caps over the bulbs now unless that have been removed. Many owners just pull the caps off to give the display a cleaner look. It also allows the bulbs to run cooler for longer life. Give me some time to look into this LCD dimming problem. I know it does happen but at the moment, I just don't remember why it happens or the cure. Jeff, kc0gxz. |

I have a question along the same line. How does one change the light bulb in the Ranger 2950? The lower lights burn on the buttons but the top is out. I have looked in side & see two wires going to a black round looking socket. However I'm not sure how it comes out & even if thats where the bulb is. |

Hey Goose you can change the colors. The only thing you have to do is open it up and change the color caps over the bulb. Fox |
