my ssb is intermitantly watery. could this be cause of amps or voltage? i'm running a 14 amp power supply with it. could it be a power cord that just isnt strong enough? or internaly? should i change to i higher fuse?

hi. its watery like garbled. the ssb isnt clear, like muffled. i've tried 3 mics already. i got this radio from copper 2 1/2 weeks ago. could it be cause the tune up that copper did was too much, or not enough power is getting to the radio? i have a 14 amp power supply. mabe the power cord isnt thick enough after copper tuned the radio up (more wattage)?

Bias voltage, ALC? My suggestion is call them and send it back before you void the warranty.

As you know, these radios have no mic gain. You didn't say if you are using a power mic or not but if you are, turn it down. Also, have you made any adjustments in the radio since you received it?

14 amps will handle your VR just fine. And yes, you could try a heavier power cord but when Copper did the modifications and tuning on your radio, they would have let you know if a heavier cord was indeed needed.

At this point, you may have to send it back to Copper to be checked out. I'm sure it's nothing serious. Copper stands behind their work and everything they sell. You will not be left high and dry with a problem radio.
