307, or anyone else interested, perhaps you can help settle an argument. A couple of the locals were debating over whether the Cobra 2000 has either the same audio circuits, or chassis as the Uniden Washington. I've heard some opinions that favor one position, but I'm staying out of this one without first hand evidence to back it up. Thanks. . . |

Basically they are the same although the binary count on the PLL is different , the "guts" are basically the same. There are few differences. |

Thanks 307. Though now the argument will probably turn into "But see it's still a bit different." Oh well that's what keeps the radio interesting. |

Cobra 2000 has a dual conversion reciever with a better component line up than the other mb8719 chassis, uses a 11.3258 downmixer. Receive is noticibly superior. Washington is single conversion and has component differences The pll loop design and primary mixing is the same with a 11.1125 downmixer. |

Correct: Cobra 2000/148/Madison and some ratshack models stuffed with low quality parts were Dual conversion (better RX). Cobra 142/140/Washington/ are Single conversion. That 142GTL was a real talker, but what bleedover. I always go for the good RX myself you can always add a amp. if you really need one they are handy at times. 73 |

Insider 738 is correct. The Cobra 148 and 2000 are the same radio. Just as the Cobra 140 and 142 are the same also Jeff, kc0gxz. |

I have had the 2000, 148, Washington, and now running a 142. What an a**kicker that is, especially with a Maco 300. They are all good radios, even the old Zachary T. Just my opinion
