I have the EURO 3900. And there are two button that controls these settings. A 3 way switch button that has S/RF, SWR, CAL. And a push & turn button call SWR CAL. Can someone tell me how do I set this right? Thank you. |

Rfman100 Place the 3 way switch in the cal. position. Push and turn the SWR cal knob so that the meter indicates cal. position on the meter while keying the mic. Release the mic, change 3 way switch to SWR position. Key mic. This should give the SWR reading on the meter. The S/RF position is used when receiving or transmitting. This indicates the receive strength as well as the transmit strength. Hope this helps. Iron Mask KGS 8024 |

Ok, but but at which point do I push the button back in? Each time I make a change of anttena or adding a device between the coax do I need to do this? And which channel? BTW: Is adding a turnning box a good thing? And radios that do not have a swr/cal setting are not worth buying? Thanks!. |

Rfman100, These are just my personal thought's but I NEVER depend on the SWR meter in any mobile radio. You figure they are Bounced around, Jarred, Dropped, Shaken, Condesation, tested to the max under all condition's. I always use an External SWR / Watt meter for all settings and to check them with. Much more dependable. Just my thought's. Lon Tech808 |

RFman, Tech808 is right of course, but to start basic, lets start this out simple. Did you understand what Ironmask said? If so, what do your SWR's read? "Each time I make a change of antenna or adding a device between the coax do I need to do this? And which channel? Yes, that would be a good idea. Adding a tuning box is usually unnecessary on a mobile setup provided you have a decent antenna. Please inform us on what you have as far as radio, coax, mount and antenna, type of vehicle, etc. Alsworld |

I do not think the radio is working right. If I bring my CAL and then check my SWR, then the SWR is too high. So I have no other choice but to keep the CAL on the low side so that my SWR read 3. Also, I try to do this with the SWR CAL button pulled out. And I guess I am suppose to keep it that way all the time. But why is it a pull & push button? As for fusese, I am not sure which fuse to buy for this radio? I do not know how to read the numbers. |

Changing what you see on the meter will not change the swr on the antenna, the meter is just a measuring device like a tape measure, you can take a 6 foot board and set your tape at 3 feet and the board will still be 6 feet, get an external swr meter and check it,then post back. |

Ok I'll ask my Dad to lend me one of his old meters and I'll buy a jumper. Thanks! |
