Are you running a full cranked d104?

Are you refering to feedback from your talkback?

I'm not sure I understand if that's not it. The Astron should handle the 400 perfectly.

I don't claim to be the expert, but have a similar setup.

Please describe your feedback problems more specifically.

Is this the original President Washington or the Uniden Washington? It doesn't really make any difference but I was just curious. The originals with the 858 PLL chips are becoming a little scarce these days.

What is your SWR between the radio and the KL-400? And what is the SWR between the KL and the antenna. Are you using a talkback? What kind of mic are you using? Is your system grounded?

Feedback can be caused from a number of things or a combination of many. A little more imformation would be helpful.

Jeff, kc0gxz.

I had the exact problem, open the bottom of stand find shield and audio connections, put a 470ohm resistor in series with the adio line put a .01 mfd cap in parallel between shield and audio,it stopped the feed back squeal and gave me more mike gain adjustment, hope this helps.

Oh pardon me was talking d-104,it did it with stock mike, but directions would be the same sans the stand part, five pin mike cords were notorious for this, also the mike cord picks up rf and feeds it back into the radio.A friend had a 250 in his car and a trunk mount antenna, nothing we did helped, until he shortened the mike cord, had a 7 footer, but still had feed back, moved antenna to roof no more problems,so by-pass the rf in your mike and/or reduce gain with the resistor/cap combo,or line the entire radio room with aluminum foil and ground it,your choice.
