Hi Guys! A month ago I sold a customer an S- Expo expander kit. He said he coild install it. Last Saturday the radio came in for repair all out of wack. The expander kit was installed wrong and a mess. I wired the kit correctly and had transmit and recieve on the lower channels, Had transmit with no modulation or recieve on ch.1-40. I found wires touching in the mic plug, repaired that, and began tuning. I now have no transmit or recieve on the lower channels,ch. 1-40 are on freq. but with no recieve or modulation. I rechecked my connections and can't aligne the radio?? Thanks Tombstone |

Tombstone For starters, I would disconnect the Expo kit and realign the radio according to specs. At least that way you know that it is in correct alignment before the Expo kit gets reconnected. It's a place to start anyways. Since he botched the Expo kit installation, there is no telling what he was twisting on while trying to get it to work. After you reinstall the kit, see what you end up with. Jeff, kc0gxz. |

Jeff, Yeah, I removed the kit and put it back to factory spechs. You were right, he twisted everything he could see. Also lost is the 22pf cap, he used the cap that is supposed to be removed. I'll let you know what goes on when I re-install the kit. I'll not sell anyone parts again! Thanks for the reply. Tombstone/222 26.925 weekends, late night |

Hello Guys and Jeff, The Uniden radio runs great now with frequency down to 26.525MHZ! I reinstalled the kit, cleaned up the messed up soldering on the board, installed the correct 22 Pf cap amd moved the kit ground from the board ground to the neg terminal on the 13.8 VDC power socket. He had jumped D-10 for more power and I had trouble with the adjustments, so I removed the power mod and everything fell into place. Thanks much for the help, this is a great forum!!
