I would say the LSB Reference oscillator is dead. Most likely the crystal. |

could you tell me the numbers marked on the board, for the lsb ref. osc. and crystal?if i don't want to attempt to do this myself how expensive would be if i sent the radio to you, so you can fix it?p.s. by the way-this is a gem of a radio- from which i got burnt with on ebay. thanks again |

It is most likely the 10.6975 crystal , here is a block of the DX 88 which is close... http://home.earthlink.net/~galaxytech/LinkedFiles/88block.gif |

since it isn't rxing/txing at all on lsb, i'd say check the "mode" switching circuits (mainly diodes and coils). these modes (am,lsb, usb,fm) all share the same xtals. the xtals are just "shifted" for each mode. usually if a xtal is bad it will tx/rx in all modes but be off (and unadjustable) in that 1 mode. since your other modes are working, and lsb isn't at all, i don't think that it is an xtal. |
