Techs. Is there any reason why more amp manufacturers don't adopt the wrap around heatsink designs of the cobra XL 450, and the Palomar Elite/Magnum series amps? I like the internal fans, that some amps have. But once in a while you have to open the vented box/amp to blow out the dust and grit that accumulate over time. Why doesn't the wrap around heatsink "Catch On"?? Is there some kind of electrical reasons why they don't use this technology?? |

i would say the main reason would be cost, it's probably much cheaper just to use the standard heatsink, in my opinion fans are a much better way to go anyways i don't want a heatsink soaking up the heat, i want it dissapated! the bigger heatsink may also soak up too much heat and cause the amps internals to actually heat up more instead of cooling it down??? oh well just my two cents!!! 73's chris |

Hey, there is a bunch of liquid cooled stuff on the market now, thanks to computer overclockers. I bet it would be easy to modify or build an amp which is water/liquid cooled. You could have the box sealed "dust-free" AND dissapate the heat. Just thought I'd through that idea in the mix. |

liquid cooling would be very cool, maybe i'll be the first to come out with a sweet liquid cooled amp!! any takers???? 73's chris |

Will you provide the funding? |

If you'll provide the drilled and tapped heatsinks and o-rings! LOL. With the variety of watercooling stuff on the market now, it may be a viable idea Tech833! With that and auto bandswitching one could really make a user friendly, mantainance-free, near 100% cycle, solid state linear amplifier. |

tech833 what will you provide, or anyone else for that matter???? i'll provide the expertise, building, drilling, tapping and everything else to make it a finished product??? chris |

Imagine cooling coils and 10 below zero at the base of the pills"super conductors" maybe?more watts maybe? |
